4Just about the only X-ACTO blade I use  Oct 31, 2009 By E. A. Lovitt "starmoth"
I'm not sure why this item is listed as a toy. I gave it 5 stars for 'educational value' because I punctured my thumb with a blade a couple of days ago, and found that to be a very educational experience. It certainly taught me to keep track of what I'm holding in my hand, when reaching down to pick up a stray scrap of paper.

Seriously, I would NOT recommend an X-ACTO knife in any form for children. The warning on the basic knife set reads: "X-ACTO blades are extremely sharp. Use with caution. Wear safety goggles."

I own the basic knife set from X-ACTO X-Acto X5082 Basic Knife Set with Wood Chest with 3 knives and 13 assorted blades, and the #1 Knife with the #11 blade is my choice of tool 98% of the time, generally for cutting fine detail into cardstock. I generally go through two or three #11 blades per design, so it is convenient to be able to buy 40 blades at a time.

The handi-pack that holds the blades lives up to its name. The blades are easy to access, and used blades can be disposed of in its convenient side slot. You don't EVER want to throw a naked blade into a wastebasket, then reach in to fetch out something that you disposed of in error.

5Best Craft Blade for Paper Projects  Nov 03, 2011 By Ray "A Reader"
THese X-Acto #11 blades are my preferred blades for paper crafting. I build paper-based architectural models, and the precision cutting of pieces for assembly is essential, and these blades rarely disappoint. They aren't cheap, but they are not overpriced, either, and their manufacturing quality, durability, and precision make them easily worth the price. I would not opt for a cheaper blade from a different manufacturer. These are made of high quality steel, are coated with fine machine oil so that no oxidization occurs during storage, and are sharp, sharp, sharp. Five stars for hobbyist and crating uses.

Note:
These are NOT toys. I'm not sure why the word "toy" is used in association with this tool, which is NOT for use by children. They are too sharp and potentially unsafe for use by anyone who is not a trained adult.

Architectural Models I Have Used These On:
Reims Cathedral: Scale Architectural Paper Model (Cathédrale de Reims English, French, German, Spanish and Italian Edition)
Notre-Dame de Paris (Architecture et Modelisme)
Chartres Cathedral: Scale Architectual Paper Model
Schreiber-Bogen Cologne Cathedral Card Model

4Not sure why this is rated like a toy....  Nov 28, 2011 By aljovido
I use #11's daily. These name brand blades get the job done, but seem bulky and dull compared to 3rd party manufactures. I only bought these because they were less expensive (and name brand!), but I'll probably go back to my regulars once these are used up.
