Shell Shocker RC toy Nov 29, 2005
By Terri
"3kids-at-home"
My son is now the proud owner of this toy. It is huge! It looks so small on T.V., but in real life it's huge. I got this at Wal-Mart, but I had to order the battery separately through Amazon. It becomes a very expenisive item when every thing is said and done. My son is seven, and loves this toy. So far, it seems very durable, and runs very well. The battery seems to last until he's done playing for the day. When you first buy the battery it has to charge for six hours prior to use, so my advice is to charge the battery way before even giving this to your child! It is a pretty cool toy that turns men into boys too. For the price of this toy, I hope that it lasts for a long while. Only time will tell. It is easy to use by children, but I wouldn't recommend this to kids under six, for electrical shock reasons, and the fact that when you operate this toy, the tail whips around, and could strike someone on the leg and hurt them. It whips quickly, so you have to pay attention, it hurts! Older kids understand better on what rules need to be set with using a battery operated toy. Buy one, you'll have a blast!!

Tyco Shell Shocker Is The Most Unique RC Toy of 2005! Dec 04, 2005
By GadgetMadness.com As I mentioned in a previous article, the Shell Shocker is the coolest land-based RC toy I've played with since, well ever. I purchased this review unit myself, and once I got it home realized I misread the packaging - to me it seemed that you could purchase an extra battery pack if you wanted to, but it was not 100% crystal clear that I needed to buy one of these separately. Some people are going to be turned off when they realize that they need to purchase a $30 battery for a toy they already spent $60 for - trust me when I realized I had to go back to the store I was right there with ya. Once you get the battery charged and start playing though, all that frustration will disappear.

The biggest scam!!! Dec 04, 2005
By MomofFour This toy looks like loads of fun and seems durable too
However, I am disgusted by the techniques of this company. They know that some parent have a tight budget and pre-determine a limit of how much they can spend on each child. The kids excitedly wishes for the Shell Shocker (or any of the Tyco cars) and the parents say YES sine it only costs $69. But NOOOOOO - it doesn't!!! It actually costs $100 because you need to pay for the so-called "battery" which in fact is the core part of the toy which they just took apart in order to be able to trick people to buy a "affordable toy"
Had it been a product for an adult, I would not be so angry because an adult can just say "never mind" when they discover they have been tricked and buy something else.
How can you tell a child who has been allowed to ask for this toy for Birthday or Christmas that you are not getting it anyways since the price is way above the budget?? Well, you CAN'T, and the gruesome people at Tyco know that.
Can you imagine the disappointment of a little child opening their Shell Shocker on Christmas morning only to find out that they essential core of the toy is not included (and not specified in the Amazon site) and that you cannot find it anywhere except a Toy Store?
People should report this complany about their scams. It is really disgusting.

"Where Am I?"
I have not actually had the enjoyment of playing with this beast yet but it looks awesome. When I first found out that it the Shell Shoker requires Tyco Proflex BP&C and one 9-volt battery, not included, it got me thinking would my mom understand what this meant. Answer: A big fat NO! She hadn't the faintest idea what the Tyco Proflex BP&C was.
*A warning to all kids who want your parents to get it for you for Christmas, birthday, or any other special event, make sure you show them the Tyco Proflex BP&C to your parents. Make sure they know what it looks like, at least! And then there's the simple fact theat the Tyco Proflex BP&C costs like $30! Add that on to Amazon's price and the whole thing cost about $100.
Second, major trickery. I'm sure most of you have seen the commercial for the Shell-Shocker, how it looks about as big as a small iguana, think again! I have seen it in the box and think about the size of a bulling ball and then think a little bigger. Way larger than they led on.
To be fair this things looks worth it the fetures are amazing:
Mud, grass, or pavement can't stop the Shell Shocker as it transforms from cyberball to a cyberbeast
Special creature features and bio-mechanical design includes a large front wheel that allows for flipping action and the ability to drive over obstacles.
I urge anyone who like awesome morphing beasts to buy the Shell Shocker!

Kids like it. Feb 02, 2006
By The Fisher Family I think this is a fairly strange toy. It is hard to control but that makes it interesting for the kids. W have a 7 and 5 year old and they think it is very cool. I have to admit that over time though - like most toys - the newness of the toy goes away and they haven't played with it much since the holidays. Still it is fun even though it is hard to control. We had to return the first one because one of the functions failed - (moving the legs in and out) but amazon.com replaced it immediately - sent the new one before we had sent back the damaged one.
