Delivers the superhero goods Aug 07, 2006
By Daniel L Edelen Ah, superheroes! You were one as a kid and now your own covets the idea of taking out the villainous trash. Enter Mattel, the superhero makers.
My son's never gone gonzo over any toy he's seen advertised--until this one. With his sixth birthday looming, he asked for one toy. You know a kid really wants a toy when he asks for one and only one.
I'm happy to report that Mattel's Superman Inflato Suit is every young boy's dream. Imaginary muscles bristle and the fan-powered fun begins.
Having seen plenty of pretend superhero gear, I expected disappointment with this toy. But Mattel's got a winner.
The suit itself is surprisingly well-made, unlike many costume toys. The stitching is firm, the choice of materials high (the cape alone is an order of magnitude thicker than similar plastic capes in other superhero costumes), the chest decal is also hefty for a plastic "melted-in" logo, and the attachment for the fan is tight and reinforced. Velcro and a nicely made waist cinch keep the air in well. The fan unit is solidly made and has a convenient belt clip.
Yes, like many inflatable props today, a fan powers the Inflato suit. You get some noise, but your child can pretend it's the wind whistling by as he flies to save Jimmy Olson from yet another bungled attempt at snaring the bad guys.
While the TV ads for the suit deceptively show it inflating in about a second--the reality is about six to eight--and the fan does fall out with too much roughhousing, everything about the Inflato suit performs admirably for the price. It does everything it claims and isn't a piece of junk that will disappoint you or your child.
Plus, for sheer parental amusement, there's nothing like watching your bulked-up kid set off to pummel evildoers. And when other kids in the 3-7 year age range see this, their eyes immediately widen and jaws drop. That's magic; you don't see too much of that reaction in today's seen-it-all-before kids.
Makes me want to be six again.

The Kid Loved It! Dec 30, 2006
By et I saw this outfit on Jay Leno (well, not on Leno, but on a kid on his show) one night in December and was pleased to find it on Amazon.com at a very reasonable price. I sent this suit to my grand nephew in Chicago who is almost 5 years old. My brother-in-law called to tell me that Aaron absolutely loves it. He and his older sister Rachel were having so much fun with this Chanukah gift the day that it arrived, that their parents held off giving them the gift that they had planned for them that night! And early the next morning, the little guy was right back into the suit. Even if the novelty wears off soon, it was worth the exeptionally reasonable price for the fun that the kids have been having with this Superman suit.

The low cost of inflation Jan 10, 2007
By JadeBlue What a deal! I gave one of these to my nephew for his sixth birthday, and he LOVES it! His parents can barely get him out of it, and it's served as a great motivator. (They tell him he can't put on the suit until he finishes his homework, and ...wham! homework is DONE!) Super!

LOVED IT! Jan 04, 2007
By Kelly A. Labrecque I bought this for my 8 year old nephew, but I think everyone else had a great time with it. What a great idea to put the fan inside to keep it "pumped up". My nephew stayed really comfortable and he could move around freely. Nice product and tons of fun. No waiting in line for this one!!! Order it for a rainy day you and your child will both enjoy this!!

Superhero fun Dec 27, 2006
By MomofTJ My 4 year old just received this as a Christmas present. Within minutes he truly believed that his muscles were real. He was going around Grammie's house trying to lift pieced of furniture until finally he could lift up her old fashioned wooden high chair. Now that he believes his muscles are real, we are working on the flying thing. Mommy is telling him that he needs to eat beans and broccoli to get that one going!
