My son received this for Christmas last year. He was almost 4 years old, and he has enjoyed playing with it. We had no problem getting ours to work. The sound and picture quality is great. This Viewmaster is different from the classic kind in that you have to insert the plastic case (it has a little cartridge attached to it) into the back of the toy to get the sound to go along with the picture reels. Each of the reels has three discs with 21 pictures total. Right now (August '07), the supply for this and the reels is low, so Amazon's price is not the best. I've recently seen them in Target and Wal-Mart for a lot less.

I bought the Super Sounds Viewmaster for my K-3 classroom. All of my students play with it. My students have never had any trouble getting the sound to work after I showed them how to use the cartridges. I appreciate that this toy has held up really well! It has been dropped on our cement floor more than a few times. I would recommend this toy.

I grew up loving my View-Master and now my 5 year old has this version and he just loves it. He spends a lot of time playing with it and I couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase.

I found on ours I had to turn the reels over before putting it in the viewer, then the sounds worked just fine, otherwise I could see it fine but just just the clunking sound when it changed pictures.

Toddler enjoys and can operate himself May 06, 2008

My 2 1/2 year old enjoys this toy and loves the added sound feature. He can slide in the discs himself and can use the lever to advance to the next image. There aren't many discs available for the sound model of the viewers.
