5"Impressive... Most Impressive" - Darth Vader, The Empire Strikes Back  Aug 12, 2005 By Arun Ballie "Windwalker"
This helmet is cast from the original movie molds! Rubies has outdone themselves with this excellent high-quality reproduction of Vader's likenes.

Vader's "tusks" and the inner mouth-piece grill are metal. This further enhances the realism of the mask. The inside of the mask is lined with foam and the adjustable straps ensure a very comfortable fit. The mask also mimics the subtle shiny and flat tones of black depicted in the movies. The lens in the mask are tinted like the movie-prop as well. The two pieces of the helmet are secured by velcro. The helmet comes packaged in a colourful collectible display-box. Please look at the pictures I posted for this product.

However, remember that Dave Prowse, the actor that played Darth Vader, was 6' 7" and he was a bodybuider. So the helmet is VERY large. Be warned that if you are SHORT or SKINNY you might resemble "Dark Helmet" from the movie "Spaceballs", instead of Darth Vader. Trust me... I know because I'm 5' 8"

The helmet is a great collector's item since it is 1:1 scale prop-replica. I will display this with my "Master Replicas - Darth Vader Lightsaber FX" which is also a 1:1 scale replica. You could also wear this with the rest of the costume (availble from Rubies) and attend costume-parties at Halloween. You may also ask your ex-girlfriend to dress-up as the emperor and reinact the scene when Darth Vader throws the emperor off the balcony. Just kidding!

The only minor problem I had as that glue that attaches the velcro seems a little weak and started to let go. But who can't apply a glue to velcro? The bottom-line is that it is very sturdy.

If you are a Star Wars collector like I am, this is a superb prop-replica and a cool costume piece. It is very well priced on Amazon.com. Check around and see for yourself. Then do yourself a favor and buy it! I hope this review is helpful to you. I was happy to be the 1st to review it and post the pictures to help you. Have a nice day!

4Not bad for what it is  Dec 14, 2005 By C. Raaths
This really looks like it was made from one of the old Don Post molds, and more like a Classic Action Helmet. While it's not quite the Classic action helmet on the top of the mask where you attach the dome, the rest looks similar. The old Vader Helmets from Don Post are no longer made and are hard to get and cost $$$.

I have a Don Post Fiberglass helmet that was reworked (paint etc) but it's too nice to use for normal parties and events. This is a nice costuming helmet. I will probably have it worked over some too, paint and stuff, but for the $80 I spent, it's a great deal. It is also full size, so it fits and looks proper when one is doing a nice Vader costume. If you want to get something that is symmetrical and ROTS grade, you will need to spend $750-850 on a Master Replicas helmet. And would you really want to wear one that costs that much for regular costuming? Not me.

A great starter helmet, and if you got the moxy, get it painted over well, replace the lenses and grills. Search the net for people that do that. It will look very nice. Enjoy!

5Living the dream....  Nov 10, 2011 By John A Nauta
I have been a Star Wars fan since I was a child. I have collected the cards and figures but always wondered what it would be like to own one of the props from the movies.

Now that I am in my forties I am still a big fan of the saga. And after seeing the tv shows where they auction off movie memorabilia I still wondered what it would like to own one of those movie props.

When I saw this on Amazon I thought JACKPOT! Though it is not an actual movie prop, it is made with the same molds as the original in the movie! And better yet, it is at a price that I can afford! I am extremely happy with my purchase and it was shipped right on time. As a previous review stated, some velco did come off but it is easily fixed. On the mask that I received the molding on one side of the neck area is slightly deformed, but not enough raise any kind of fuss over. The only complaint that I do have is that the day I received my mask I looked on Amazon and saw it was being sold for twenty dollars cheaper than what I just paid. DARN MY PSYCHIC ABILITIES!

5I finally have the real helmet!  Oct 29, 2011 By Devkl "David"
I've always wanted this thing. It's awesome. That original actor must have had a big head. It's a little big. I'm a 6' tall adult. Getting it all together the first time was a little trial and error, but it works. Vision is better than I expected. Not as hot as I expected either. Definitely an awesome, realistic Darth helmet.

5This is an excellent display piece molded from the ORIGINAL TRILOGY prop  Oct 27, 2005 By R. Hilliard
This makes for a beautiful, affordable display. As another reviewer has stated in his review, this piece is not perfectly symmetrical. Well that's because the original Vader helmet was not symmetrical. The Vader mask as seen in "Return of the Sith" was a computer assisted sculpt that erased all of these imperfections, which in my opinion also erased some of the mask's character. I applaud the manufacturers for making a piece that compares very well to the Vader mask released about 10 years ago that cost over 10 times as much!
