Our Best Christmas Gift Mar 08, 2006
By Eric Wilson
"novelist"
I played Stratego as a kid, thrilled with the chance to maneuver spies and generals against each other. The game was easy to set up, but different every time you played.
With the recent Narnia movie in theaters, I bought this version of the classic game for my own kids. I expected the game to be an exact duplicate of the original, with different names and faces from the C.S. Lewis story.
But it's so much more than that! The people who created this adaptation did an incredible job. Not only is the artwork beautiful, the game itself mirrors the ideas and lessons of the movie. One side starts with a small band against a murderous horde; then Aslan and reinforcements arrive and the battle is on. Aslan and the White Witch both have specific skills on the board, as well as many others--Lucy, for example, can use her healing vial to bring one of her fallen comrades back into the game.
My girls love Narnia Stratego, and I do too. It requires basic strategy skills and thinking, while also activating the imagination. This was the best Christmas gift we bought--and we're still playing it.

favorite Christmas present according to my two girls Jan 09, 2007
By Cindy F. Blankenship I have 12 and 15 year old daughters that are absolute Narnia fans. They saw this game in a store in another city and said they wanted it for Christmas. When the time came to buy it, no one had it in stock but Amazon. I ordered it and it came promptly. On Christmas morning after all was opened, the Narnia Stratego game was the #1 hit. They have played it more than any other game I have ever bought for them. They like the fact that each game is unique and therefore it doesn't get boring. I definately recommend this game. It think the game itself would be a hit even if it wasn't the Narnia edition. Being Narnia it just made it extra special for them.

PREUSED and MISLABELED, but Marketed as NEW...Very Deceptive. Mar 03, 2010
By C. Ricchiuto I was disappointed with this product in that it was marketed as a new product but it was preused. That in itself would not have bothered me at all because the product was lightly used and in fairly good condition and I was giving it to my son for a birthday present. Please note though that the stickers on this product were all put on backwards. No, I don't mean backwards on the stand, I mean backwards on the incorrect color for the army that they represent. The red pieces are supposed to represent the good army and the blue pieces are supposed to represent the evil White Witch's army, but this game arrived already stickered in reverse of that. This makes Playing Instructions and the Special Powers Instructions confusing as pieces are referred to by their color. Playing the game can still be done, it is just quite confusing for the first two or three times or any time you are teaching someone new and you need to refer to the Instructions. I would have been embarrassed to have gifted this to someone outside of my immediate family, thinking that it was new and then having it be opened under the shrink wrap to find it preused and mislabeled. I went to have it replaced on Amazon only to see that it was not replaceable, only refundable. My son decided to keep the mislabeled game rather than not have it at all. The game plays well once you get used to thinking Red when the instructions say Blue and vice a versa. I am giving the game play a 4 star, but overall a 1 star because of the deception in marketing without the ability to correct the error with a replacement product.
