My grandsons loved this toy Jun 27, 2007
By C. Wainscott I bought a red archer and a blue archer for my grandsons, ages 5 and 3. They love them. They're beautifully detailed, and are sturdy enough to withstand rough treatment. I have bought them several other Schleich products, and they've all been consistently high quality, and a lot of fun for the boys.

Beautiful, educational, fun, durable and safe medieval toy soldiers Jul 13, 2006
By EquesNiger I purchased this in Prague, having started my collection after being given the Dragon for Christmas. It's a remarkably detailed piece, with an amazing level of historical accuracy in the armor and armaments of the 14th/15th century. It's made of highly durable plastic, and overall it's rugged enough to withstand the rigors of entertaining youngsters. I bought several other members of the Schleich Knights series for my two nephews, aged 4 and 6, so there is minimal concern that the detachable parts could be dangerous for young children. The pieces come in two opposing camps: the Red Fleur de Lis, and the Blue Lion, and each piece has a corresponding piece in the other, with somewhat different design and graphics. Though the Red Camp shows arms and armor of the 12-13th Centuries (typically), and the Blue the arms and armor of the 13-15th, both mounted archers are identical in this case. The level of detail, for this price, is actually quite surprising. Also, it appears some political sensitivity went into the crafting, as the Red Fleur de Lis corresponds more closely to the English armor and weapons of the periods, while the Blue Lion more closely refelcts the French, despite the switched heraldic devices. Some care must be taken when unwinding the wiring which affixes the toy in the box, as it can scuff the paint on the hooves of the horse.
Best "plastic toy" figurines I've seen Oct 27, 2009
By MJPinckard Amazing amount of detail. I have purchased several of these (different varieties) for my three and a half year old son and he's constantly playing with them. They're getting a little worn around the edges after over six months of hard use, but nothing has broken, including the bowstring. He just loves them. I'm astounded by the craftsmanship. Very detailed historically accurate work, rivets, lacing, even to the point of things that aren't visible. On one with a shield, the reins from the horse meet the edge of the shield right at the horse's neck, then go across the back of the shield to the rider's hand (very difficult to see this - get a flashlight).
In a day when virtually everything is commoditized and genericized down to the lowest common denominator, these are a shining example of how excellent craftsmanship combined with modern technology can benefit everyone.
Can't recommend enough.

Excellent toy. It is durable. It is realistic in its small details (and accurate to history). It is perfectly sized and colorful, making it very easy for a child to enter into his/her imaginative world of play.
