5Awesome  Dec 12, 2011 By Befragt
I bought some of the Schleich knights, including this one, for my 5 year old son's birthday. I can't say enough for these.

At first glance, these knights seem expensive, even when bought through Amazon. Although a bit pricey, the quality more than makes up for that. This figurine stands a few inches tall - it's not some tiny little thing. It's made of a resin-like material, extremely durable. In fact, our puppy grabbed one of the knights and tried to chew on it for a few seconds until we could grab it away - there wasn't a mark on it.

The level of detail with these figurines is exquisite. Even the chain mail on his arms is well painted - not sprayed silver, but silver with darker areas where the holes in the chain mail would be. Although they're apparently hand-painted, they're painted to perfection. I can't say whether the knight's garb is historically accurate, but I can say that there is an attention to detail that is awesome. As my son played with these, I found myself thinking that they looked so real that it was almost as if someone had taken a photo of Medieval soldiers. Awesome.

One bonus to these knights is that they're large, with few, if any, removable pieces (the lances of the mounted knights can be removed, and the mounted knights can be taken off their horses). In a house with other small kids and dogs, the size and lack of numerous parts is pretty key.

My son really, really loves these. There was a bit of downside in that. First, we couldn't get him to bed last night because he wanted to play with them all night. In fact, we had to agree to allow him to take them with him. Now he wants more knights for Christmas. He was previously into cars, but the cars appear forgotten. Then he immediately wanted to read books on knights and compare them to the figurines we'd given him.

Second, the knights are so attractive and so well done that my daughters want to play with them as well. That triggered any number of disputes last night. So we're ordering some princess-type figurines for my youngest daughter because she loves the Schleich horses so much.

Really, I can't remember the last time my only reservation about a toy was that my children liked it too much. Durability, educational value, fun, these knights can't be beaten. Highly, highly recommended!

5Schleich's Black Knight is All Right!  Oct 29, 2011 By Vincenzo L. Falcone
I purchased this figure, along with several others of the Schleich line, and was amazed at how well crafted they truly are. The figures are well sculpted, well painted, and very durable - meaning that if I WAS to let my son have a go at them, they could hold up to the punishment.

They are accurately detailed, with no traces of 'fantasy' or 'mythology' to them - no flaming swords, or oddly shaped weapons and armour. The knights are superbly crafted and historically designed.

If I may quote the previous post of EquisNiger: "The pieces come in two opposing camps: the Red Fleur de Lis, and the Blue Lion, and each piece has a corresponding piece in the other, with somewhat different design and graphics. This reflects an impressive variety in styles of armament and armor of the period, and vastly improves the educational value of the series. "

In this case, the Black Knight is wearing Tournament Armour and sporting a Tourney Lance (The blunt, fist-like know at the end of his lance), so he can actually be used to bolster either side of Schleich knights you and your little ones may own, or he could be that dreaded lone warrior - the Black Knight, able to hold any pass or bridge against countless foes. The great thing about these figures is - the only limit to them is your imagination!

In all, I give this line of figure and their accessories Two Thumbs Up!

4Standard you expect from Schleich  Aug 09, 2011 By bastafidli
This is another great Schleich knight. We have several of them and this fits right in with all the others. It is well made and unlike Pappo which we also have, the toy doesn't break even with intense play. If your kids are into knights, I would definitely stick with Schleich collection.

5Excellent Knights  May 27, 2009 By G. BLAIR "GBlair"
These are excellent quality toy knights. They may cost a little more than other brands, but these are of a substantial scale and are well worth the money. My kids have endless fun re-enacting various battles and making up jousts, etc. Rainy days are never dull with an imagination and knights like these.
