4This is a great puzzle, better than I thought when I opened it up  Dec 31, 2005 By P. Reese "muncie-birder"
I received this for Christmas. I was not overly enthused when I first saw it. I am more used to the 1000 piece flat jigsaw puzzles. However, this was a lot of fun to put together and a lot easier than the flat puzzles. I managed it easily in about 8 hours over 3 days. The pieces go together easily, for the most part. The upper dome is a challenge, however.

The pieces are foam backed instead of cardboard. When you open the box you will find that many of them are still attached. So the first thing you will need to do is carefully separate those that are still attached. This puzzle requires a lot of room to construct. And this is a construction job. I built it on the coffee table, but room was at a premium.

Now be aware that it comes with instructions of a sort and they are required, in my oppinion, to sucessfuly complete the project. Also you need to be aware that even though many of the walls once they are constructed appear interchangable, they are not. Everything fits but only if they are in the correct location and that is not obvious. If everything does not properly mesh, it is because either the scrap has not been cleared out of all the mesh points or the walls are in the wrong locations. I had 3 or 4 walls in the wrong locations and the walls were not fitting together. So be patient and move them around until they do fit.

Now, the box says 12+ in age. This would be a great puzzle for a budding civil engineer. But a 12 year old will perhaps need more patience than I had when I was 12. Dad or mom should be handy to offer insite into why the walls are not fitting together. Actually, I think with help and encouragement a 10 can do it.

5Completely Satisfied  May 13, 2007 By L. Walker
My boyfriend and I purchased this item because we thought it would be a great project for both of us to work on. It has been great so far and has kept us busy. I like this item because it is very detailed and because of the 3-D effect, which is very different from the regular puzzles I have done in the past. My only wish is that we had more time to work on it.

5US Capitol rocks  Jan 22, 2009 By Daphne C. Cody
My 12 year old loves this 3D puzzle of the US Capitol Building. She enjoys following the detailed and clear instructions to build this enormous model of this government building. During Barack Obama's swearing in, she knew more about where he was standing and why than the news commentators knew. This is definitely for the tween, teen, or adult who likes a multi-step fun challenge that takes more than one sitting. Keep it away from the dog and the toddler.

4Fun but finished too fast  Mar 28, 2007 By J. Howard
This is a nice puzzle for anyone interested in today's puzzling politics. My son enjoyed putting it together, then adding Pinky and the Brain to the upper-level windows. His only complaint was that he finished too quickly.

5Capitol Building 3D puzzle  Jan 12, 2009 By P. Avanto "Blessed"
My eleven year old son and his grandmother love this puzzle. They are working on it together and spending quality time as they sit side-by-side. My son loves constructing buildings, so this puzzle has been a great challenge for him.
