I gave this to my nephew's daughter for her 3rd birthday a few months ago. She loves this toy to death. She sleeps with and plays games with it all the time. The other night I went over and she brought it out and watched TV with it. She said it wanted to hide under the covers because the movie was scary.
She enjoys this toy a lot.

It is a cute puppy as a stuffed animal, but as far as it being interactive, I don't see it. All it does is howl if you howl or press its paw. Who wants to keep howling at a dog? After a few minutes, it got boring. I expected more from Nintendo. But, for $11.00, it was not worth paying the shipping to send it back.

My daughters (one 4 and the other 10) love their pets, the howl with them, they play with them and they are so proud of them. They even sleep with them. I know ther are other toys that for that much do more things (beside moving the tail and howling don't expect much) but for some reason my daughters feel very attached to their nintendogs, so for me that is just enough.

I got this for my son for his birthday and he fell in love with it. It is a very obnoxious toy, but I was sad when he stopped working a month later. He doesn't howl, wag his tail, or nod his head anymore. I replaced the batteries, but that didn't help. I am disappointed that he didn't last long and that he was SO EXPENSIVE for a howling dog! That aside, my son still has to sleep with him every night:)
