 My First Leappad excellent for children under 3! Oct 22, 2002
I know there has been much written about this product, but I also want to stress how great this toy is. Every time I would go to the toy store with my 1 1/2 year old daughter, she insisted on playing with the LeapPad (the one for ages 4yrs and up). She would scream if I took her away from it. So, for Christmas, I gave her the My First Leappad. I thought I'd give it a try, even though it was recommended for ages 3 and up -- well over her age. It is definitely the best product I have ever bought! She is now 2 1/2 years old and it is still one of her absolute favorite toys. We take it every time we travel (air, car, everything!) She is proficient at all of her letters, numbers, shapes, and colors - and even though she's done every page of all of the books we have that go with it, she never seems to tire of it. This is a truly great product -- educational and fun! I highly highly recommend it -- even if your child isn't 3 years old yet! You won't be disappointed!

More Books in the Making for My First LeapPad Nov 30, 2001
My daughter will soon be 2 years old and was playing with this item in the store. She seemed to love it so I just purchased it for a Christmas gift. I noticed thru the Leap Frog company, that at the present time, they only have 2 additional books you can buy for it. This did have me somewhat concerned. I was not going to purchase this item if you can only use a total of three books. I would have went to the next size LeapPad. I then sent them an email and people should be happy to know that they are in the process of making more books and they will be out in the first quarter of 2002. I hope this information is helpful to current and future owners of the My First LeapPad.

My 3 year old loves his "My First Leap Pad". It is the only educational toy (I don't consider playing on Daddy's computer a toy) that he plays with. As a matter of fact, it's the only toy that isn't Power Rangers or Bob the Builder that he plays with every day. He's learning how to read because of using this toy, when previously he showed little interest. However ... I have not been able to find ANY supplemental books for "My First Leap Pad" and that is a MAJOR disappointment ... you may just want to skip the "My First Leap Pad" and plunk down the extra money for regular Leap Pad ... Looks like I'm going to have to ...

We bought the My First LeapPad for our daughter over a year ago for her 3rd birthday. She is still playing with it. It is one of the few toys that have held her attention other than her play kitchen. She takes it everywhere that we go and she even sleeps with it, all this still after an entire year of playing. The pen that is used with the leap pad did stop working just recently and I called the company and they sent me another one free of charge no questions asked. Thats what I call service. I would recommend this toy to anyone who has small children. In fact I think that we are going to buy her the regular LeapPad for Christmas. The only thing that I don't like is that the My First LeapPad does not have a wide variety of books to choose from.

Just like the big kids Nov 08, 2001
I bought this toy for my 3 year old son and he loves it. I recently bought 2 other books to go with it. I know some of the other reviews said they can't find any other books for it. But it is because it is christmas time and everyone has bought them all. We still have alot of them in Utah. My son loves this toy because now he can be like the big kids. Before they would play with their leap pads and he would just sit and bug them. This toy is great and I hope they keep making more books for it.
