I am compelled to echo previous reviews for this game. In the market for a movie trivia game that did not require a DVD player, I found that the choice was limited to Movie Mania, which, I discovered, relies too heavily on generic quotations from relatively obscure films to be entertaining to a general audience. I am a film buff, as are most of my family, but we joke now that a perfect example of a question would be Q: "Help!" A: The Tommyknockers. Unless you want to bore your fellow players, save your money and move the DVD and TV into the game room.

I'm a huge movie buff and picked up this game hoping that it might somehow encourage my family and friends to appreciate film as much as I do. That didn't happen. The game is almost too difficult to play unless you're with a group of cinephiles. Two-thirds of the question are movie quotes that you have to name the movie the quote comes from. The other third of the questions are the more general movie-trivia type. Example of some of the questions:
"That's what I call a close encounter!"---INDEPENDENCE DAY, Will Smith, (1996)
"In a pinch I can be tougher than you are, and I guess maybe this is the pinch." ---BOYS TOWN,
Spencer Tracy, (1938).
What was the name of the motel in the film classic PSYCHO (and sequel PSYCHO 2)?
A: Bates Motel, (1960, 1983).
What famous Jets' quarterback starred in the film THE LAST REBEL?
A: Joe Namath, (1971).
Despite not being able to play the game hardly at all, I'm still glad I purchased it. I enjoy learning new movie trivia and some of the questions and quotes have led me to pick out some different movies to watch. This is a great gift for film fans just for the trivia alone, but common movie goers will probably find it too difficult to play.
