Okay, so my daughter loves My Little Pony and loves sno-cones, so we thought this was a great idea for Christmas. She was so excited when she opened this and could not wait to try it out. We just tried it for the first time today, and it was pretty disappointing. Here's a brief list of pros and cons:
Cons:
1.This thing is not battery operated or electric. It is operated manually by cranking a plastic handle.
2.The whole contraption is really flimsy and the handle kept popping apart.
3.It took about 20 minutes to make 1/2 cup of ice shavings
4.There is a plastic pony on the front that is supposed to "sled down the mountain as the sno-cones are made". This is actually just a pony that has an attachment that hits a part of the crank as it turns. The pony stays stationary but knocks back and forth. It was so irritating that I took it off and just let my daughter play with it while I finished making the sno-cone.
Pros:
1. My almost-5-year-old daughter loves it and thinks it is wonderful
2. I got a great tricep work out cranking the handle for 20 minutes :)
The bottom line is that I would not spend much money on this. I'll keep it to use occasionally when my daughter is really bored, but it definitely will not be used at her birthday party in February, which is something I originally thought it would be good for. I got this for $10 at a discout store, so I'm okay with it, but I would have been really upset if I had paid more for it.
