terrific toy, but has certain limitations Dec 06, 2001 My son has loved this toy since we got it for his first birthday (he's now 16 months). We live in NYC so we are constantly walking around and this is a fun alternative to a stroller. People are always smiling at my son as he steers and plays with the buttons - I've been stopped many times by people asking where we got it and was it expensive - which I think it was not.But as I said - it definitely has limitations - the lack of a seat belt being the biggest. The first time my son rode in it he tried to stand up as I was pushing it, and I thought I was going to have to return it. But after a little engineering I rigged an old (and very long) buckle strap around the pole used to push it and under the convertible top and it works pretty well. My only other complaint is that the hard plastic wheels are SO LOUD on the city sidewalks - people definitely hear us coming. It would definitely be an even better toy if they changed the wheels to rubber. But regarding the seat belt, I think it would really be in Little Tikes best interest to change the model and add one.

Awesome car...a Big Hit!!!! May 07, 2001
By Tracy Hamilton I bought this for my daughter's first birthday! She loves this car and it is the cutest thing I've ever seen. The handle is great so I can push her up and down the street. Later she can scoot herself because the floor board can be removed. So it grows with her. The sounds are so funny and she can push the buttons to make the noises. She turns the steering wheel (which doesn't steer the car), she can move the gear shift back and forth. The canopy is great and actually useful. I was worried about the durability of the tires because they are plastic not rubber, but so far all is well. And we are putting a lot of miles on this thing. We go up and down the street at least twice a day. The only bad thing was it was a pain to put together. Don't do it while your child is napping. It requires a hammer! I am pretty good at putting things together and this was hard. But once it is done, it is a blast!!

Baby loves it no matter what Aug 06, 2001
By KNSudha My son receved this for his first B'day. He loves it, and we think it is cute too -- I don't think it is street safe though since it lacks a seat belt. It would only be a 1.5 ft fall, so I feel comfortable using it around the yard and in the house. Plus the plastic wheels are incredibly noisy even on tile. Its fine on smooth hardwood, but noisy on the kitchen tile and on the brick backyard. Its fine on the lawn too. The shade is a lovely idea for yard use, my son sits in the car and watches me gardening. I can angle the car to avoid the sun. he loves the wheel and key and buttons. The assembly should take about 15- 20 minutes, the wheels etc were easy to install -- the push handle is the problem, the part attached to the car was impossible to put on due to a molding problem, and I had to file out an obstructive bump before I could insert it. That was an extra 15 minutes. Second, after a couple of hours, the screw attaching the two handle pieces has fallen out. Its difficult to steer until I find another screw. All in all though, its a great idea, a reasonable price and has great play value! So I give it 5 stars for fun, and poor on the other categories.

THIS IS THE BEST RIDE A TODDLER COULD ASK FOR! May 08, 2001 Not only did my 13 month old daughter absolutely love this car, but we are thrilled with it also! Everyone comments on how cute it is and asks where we got it. I agree that the assembly is not easy, but once you get through it and your child starts enjoying this car, the building process is forgotten. My daughter loves pushing the buttons and making different horn noises. She also loves to pretend she's steering. The removable sun shade, which makes it a "convertible" car, is just too cute and your toddler will look very cool! My daughter is now 16 months old and we haven't yet removed the floor board, but I'm sure it will come in handy as she approaches her second birthday. It's a nice feature which will make this car useful for longer. I highly recommend this car!

Good ride in North Carolina Nov 21, 2000 My daughter loves this car. She got it for her first birthday and was THE hit of the day. She loves to ride in it or just sit and watch other kids. The first one we got had molding problems with the axle assembly, but Little Tikes shipped another and no problem with it. I have two complaints from the "parent" side. It definitely needs a seat belt (the customer service rep at Little Tikes told us it had one) and also the handle for pushing it needs to be better mounted. The screw that holds it in the back of the car has already come out and we have replaced with a larger one. This is still not going to last long term. Get with it Little Tikes you make a great product, it just needs some refining and you know it. I agree with other reviewers that rubber tires would be nice as well. Other than that...she is the envy of every child in the neighborhood.
