Another wonderful Little People set Jul 30, 2003
By cmp I just can't say enough good things about the Fisher-Price Little People toys. The farm is no exception - another well-made, durable, go-to-it-every-5-minutes toy. My 15 month old twins just got the farm from their grandparents (grandpa is a farmer), and they LOVE the toy. The animals, as with the other Little People sets, are easy to grasp and don't mind getting chewed on. The noises are fun, and they are already figuring out which animal goes with which sound. They dance to the music every time they play it, and even get a huge kick out of placing the extras (weathervane, windmill and scarecrow) around the farm. This is another winner!

Fun for Little People! Nov 30, 2003

"book junkie"
The Little People Animals Sounds Farm (by Fisher-Price) is probably my 2 year old daughter's absolute favorite toy. She got it for Christmas last year and has played with it probably every single day since then. She takes the animals with her wherever she goes! Details about the toy: * the barn has a first floor and second floor. The first floor is where the animals live and the second floor is Farmer Jed's bedroom/workspace. * animals included are a horse, cow, pig, chicken, and sheep. * the horse and cow noises are made by opening the swinging gates to their "stable" areas * the chicken noise is made by sitting the chicken on top of her nest (the nest flips over to reveal either eggs or chicks - which I thought was a very clever idea) - it doesn't take much pressure to hear the sounds...perfect for little ones * the pig and sheep noises are made by placing each animal onto their own little "living area" (pig has a mudhole, sheep has dirt surrounded by grass) * Farmer Jed is included (blond character) * there are three interchangeable parts (windmill, rooster - which I think is supposed to be a weathervane, scarecrow) that can be places in three different places on the farm * there are two fence pieces that you can attach to either side of the farm as well as to each other * there is a cart that attaches to the horse and the cart holds a bale of hay (removable) * Farmer Jed's bed (which is on the second floor of the barn) can be tilted so Farmer Jed can effortlessly get out of bed in the morning and get right to work (I didn't even notice this feature at first, but my daughter loves to place the animals on the bed and make them go "wheeeeee" out the window) * you will have to place a number of decals/stickers in their respective places. There are "family pictures" in each stable/living area (a picture of a family of pigs near the pig pen, etc.) * the entire barn/farm is foldable for easier transportation/storage and you can fit all of the accompanying pieces into the barn for storage * there is a platform by the barn door which plays "The Farmer in the Dell" when pressed. My daughter knows all of the sounds that the five animals in this set make (and has since she was about 21 months old), in part because of this toy. While this toy is probably not classified under "educational", it is a very educational toy. It can act as an aid for teaching about animals: the kinds of animals that live on a farm, what sort of home the animal makes, and the sounds these animals make. It is also a great toy for "matching" because the child will learn to match the animal to its appropriate home (based upon the various characteristics of the home). We also have the matching "Farmer's Market" with Sonya Lee, a car and trailer with a crate of apples and a fence piece with the farmer's market stand. All of these pieces are interchangeable with the pieces in the Farm (and all other Little People playsets). My daughter actually uses the farm as her "house" for all of her small figurines/toys (she has some care bear figurines as well as some other similar-sized plastic toys, all of whom live on the Little People Farm! If I HAD to find a negative about the toy, it would be the fact that it's rather difficult to keep the many crevices clean and they are rather difficult to get clean in the first place. But that's the ONLY negative about this excellent toy! After purchasing this toy and being so impressed by both the durability and fun-quotient, we're planning to purchase a number of other Little People playsets. We've just purchased the Noah's Ark set as a Christmas present, so once it's opened, I'll post my detailed review for it, though I'm certain it will be a 5 star-worthy toy! One last note...the toy is a favorite with the other children that I babysit as well (ranging in age from 11 months to 4 years old). Everyone wants to play with the Little People farm when they come to my house. It has earned the honor of being the only toy to be stored downstairs (in the living room) because it is played with so frequently!

We love Little People! Oct 11, 2003
By Just Another Opinion My son got this barn on his first birthday and has had so much fun with it! The animals and people are the perfect size for little hands, and all of the sounds are easy for him to find on the toy. This toy really does grow with the child. He initially just pressed the buttons to make the animal noises and to make the music play. He eventually graduated to putting the animals where they belonged, and I imagine that as he gets older, he will have lots of pretend play on the farm. The Fisher Price Little People toys simple do not disappoint.

We love the Animal Sounds Farm! Sep 17, 2003 We got this for my twin boys' first birthday. Now they are almost 3, and it still sits in the "cool toys" section!! At first, they loved seeing what sounds it made, then they stepped up to actually putting the animals in the correct places to match the sounds, and now, they are able to make up stories and actually play for quite a while with it (when they aren't fighting over it). It is still in the same condition it was when we bought it, even with 2 rough boys that throw it around everyday!

Great for beginners Jun 27, 2003
By Kappy Hodges My 1 yr old LOVED playing with this toy. The animals all stand on buttons that when you push them make their sounds. You can move the animals out and play with them, of course, and push the buttons without the animals standing on them as well. He really enjoyed being able to make the animal talk and copying them, thereby learning their sounds. Wears like iron. You will pass it down to your next kids or to a friend.
