Almost perfect! Sep 11, 2006
By J. Watson This playmat was not my first choice, buy my son loves it. We can leave him on it for almost an hour before he gets tired of it. (He is five months old.) He loves to hit the hanging toys, then roll to the sides to chew on the mat, spin the ball, look in the mirror, and start all over again. The mat had helped him to learn to turn over, as he uses the red supports to push him to his stomach and he also uses it to spin around on his back. There are a few drawbacks, which is why I gave it a four-star rating. The hanging toys come off when pulled fairly easily. I have doubled up the linking rings to make it a little harder for my son, but he has still managed to pull them off the toy. The plastic one hurts him when it hits him. The mat isn't wide enough to be able to change the scenery for my son. It was only made to orient the child two ways. But the big plus for me is that it is machine washable, so when it gets drooled/spit up on, I can easily clean and dry.

Baby likes this gym! Feb 13, 2007
By elviswoman I got this Barn Yard Friends Motion/Music gym for my two month old preemie. She seems to really like the colors and patterns on this play gym and she reaches up to the linkadoos and bats at them. It's the most active I have seen her with a toy so far and it's been a lot of fun for both of us.
The fact that you can flip baby over and take the linkadoos off the bar and attach to the fabric loops on the mat for tummy time is a plus. I am all about variety and versatility in toys and this one fits the bill for sure. Oh, and another great feature is that there is a loud and a soft setting for the music, so when it starts to drive you nuts you can turn it down. It has an auto-shutoff as well which is nice for battery conservation.
Best of all, I think this toy provides the same level of entertainment and safety as other play gyms on the market at about 1/2 the cost. That is good news considering how fast kids grow out of these things.
I highly recommend this product.

Fisher Price Barnyard gym Jul 26, 2005

This play gym is A+++! My son was 4 mo old when we bought it. He wasn't hitting or grabbing objects like most babies his age. Literally, only a few minutes after he was introduced to the gym, he was hitting the toys. The next day, no lie, he was mooing along with the cow. He also hated "tummy time," but he stays longer on his tummy with this mat before he rolls over or whines. The only drawback that I have found is that one of the hanging toys is plastic. The links will pull off with force. I'm sure this is for safety, but they should have made all the toys cloth since my son has pulled the plastic chick off and wacked himself in the head with it several times. Not a problem. You can replace the toy with another link a doo toy and use the chick on the play mat. One last thing.... We only paid $30 dollars for the gym. A very reasonable price considering they don't use it for all that long and other gyms are $60-79 dollars. I am a very satisfied Mommy!

Great Entertainment Even for Litttle Ones May 12, 2005
By nicole lewis My daughter has been using this since she was 2 months old. She is now 3 1/2 months old and still loves it! She at first just loved to listen to the music and watch the cow move up and down. She now loves interacting with the animals, batting and kicking at the link-a-doos, and talking to the cow. If she gets a little tired of that or the cow and music shut off, which they do after a little while, she will turn her head to the sides of the mat and look at the bright colored animals and mirror. She really has developed some skills by using this mat; grabbing the link-a-doos, batting at them, and kicking her legs in excitement.
My son loves this Jan 23, 2012
By Evil Queen Mommy We were given a bunch of different toys for my son, this one my mom had gotten at a yard sale and just gave us as back up, not expecting our son to play with it much. This became his favorite toy. Diaper changes are so much easier with this toy above him. We didn't get the mat, just the hanging part and that was enough to entertain him for long amounts of time, he still loves it (5 months later) as much as the day he saw it.
