5Perfect for teaching our daughter writing...  Dec 11, 2004 By Pete Vere
We own over a dozen books for My First LeapPad. This particular book is my daughter's second favorite. In fact, we own two versions of it, one in English and the other in French.

My wife and I purchased this book because our daughter needed help with her fine motor skills, especially when it came to writing letters and numbers. She wasn't lagging or anything, but she made the mistakes all three-year-olds make when trying to write.

Through fun activities, this book taught her to write in strait lines as well as proper curved lines. She learned to correctly print both capital and small letters. She also learned to correctly write her numbers. We were pleasantly surprised by how much this book improved our daughter's fine motor skills and control over a pen.

Additionally, since her French lagged her English, the French version of this book taught her the alphabet in French and well as all her numbers in this language. Had she not already known these things in English, I imagine it would have taught her these as well.

This book is definitely one of My First LeapPad's best.

4Great book for the slightly older My First Leappad kids  Dec 08, 2004 By Meghan
My four year old son really enjoys this one (we have about a dozen My First Leappad books so far). A couple of the games really intrigued him; the "theme" is a carnival/fair, and he likes tracing the lines from the ball to the milk cans, for example. He's not as enthralled with the alphabet tracing part but I think he'll grow into that. This is definitely one of the most-requested books (he and his younger sister also really like Leap to the Moon and Disney Princesses).

5My Daughter Loves It!  Jan 18, 2006 By Mariah's Mom "gemilagl"
I ordered this for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. She has been trying to write her name before, but some letters give her trouble. I gave her this "book" and she loves it! We own about 10 First Leap Pad books and she plays with this one more than any (she even put down the Disney Princess one to play with this). She likes practicing tracing the dotted lines on the letters. She doesn't do most of the other games, but she enjoys tracing the letters. The music makes it more exciting than the preschool handwriting books I had purchased for her. She won't spend two minutes with those. It does seem that her "free" handwriting is getting better. She just received the L-Max for Christmas (we haven't opened it yet)and the Letters on the Loose game which I read was good for writing. I'm sure that with both of these, she will have writing down pat very soon.

5Great product great price  Dec 31, 2012 By Krista
I purchased this for my 3 year old and it is a really good book for practicing her letter tracing. I would recommend this product to parents.

4very good  Jan 09, 2007 By mum "mum"
i thought this product was fun and engaging for my 2 1/2 year old. she's just learning how to properly hold a pen and the dotted lines were great for her to follow. the sound effects made it fun for her.
