This is a great game! Highly recommendable.
The game play is simple enough that my 3 year old can play with adult supervision, yet older children will not grow bored readily. And for adults it's a wonderful change from Candyland.
There are optional rules to increase the difficulty and strategy elements as children master the basics and are ready for more.
The game itself is nicely made with high quality artwork that is appropriate (not too scary) and solid wood game pieces. Using both die rolls and a spinner players advance though Middle Earth gaining friends and defeating enemies.
Educational elements include counting and opportunities to introduce your children to basic strategy. The game is easily played without that element or played with the entire set of advanced rule options in play, making a challenging and fun game for adults and older children alike.
It does have a lot of small pieces that make it unsuitable for very young children.

My 3 and 5 year old boys LOVE this game. The game is simple enough to be understandable to relatively young children but complex enough not to be boring after dozens of plays. The artwork is very nice too.
