What a pleasant surprise Dec 23, 2005
By Sandy D. I was skeptical about dollhouses after reading reviews of others, but this one was super. It took my husband two hours to put it together and he was astounded that all the holes matched up! The furniture is nice and sturdy. It's great that it's wooden and I'm sure our granddaughter is going to be thrilled. She wanted her Barbies to fit and this is huge.

Not the quality I had hoped for Mar 21, 2007
By You know who After reading the reviews for this "amazing" dollhouse by Kidkraft, I was very curious. It had sold out and was backordered so I had to wait to purchase it for my daughter's fifth birthday. She was thrilled. For the exhorbitant price, I was not.
Here are the good points:
The house is huge - large enough for Barbie sized dolls. It is very colorful and beautifully laid out. The furniture is well made and sturdy, large enough to hold Barbie sized dolls. Some features of the dollhouse are nice - the wooden bannisters are attractive and the openness of it.
Here are the bad points:
The construction of the main part of the house is made up of wood, but cheap laminate with wall decals pasted on which actually were starting to peel off as my husband and I were putting it together. The edges of the windows were a little rough, like the paper needed to be smoothed a little.
The stairs are plastic - couldn't Kidkraft have made them out of wood like they did the bannisters and furniture?
The entire frame of the house was warped so that when we put it together, it did not fit properly, so we had to take the entire thing apart and return it to the store where we purchased it in Sacramento.
I have to say, at the price we paid on sale ($[...]) I was expecting something of a little more quality. Maybe that's what dollhouses these days go for. It's too bad. However, I don't think my daughter even notices these defects, so I'm glad it makes her happy and hopefully it will encourage years of creative play.

expectations to high Dec 31, 2005

This is a wonderful and classic dollhouse. My almost 6 year old loves that it is huge and open to fit many of her dolls(barbie size). My only complaint is that i was disappointed in the furniture because the pictures showed that it was more than just wood, only expectations can be blamed for that. The Swing could really use a lot of adjustments the dolls do not stay on and it is not well built. All in all the furniture grows on you because it is built large and strong to help with those little hands. The time it took my 16 year old and I was about 2 hours and really easy because of the numbered pieces, small box but the manufacturer did a really good job so do not be scared it is in a million pieces, it is NOT!! Great for Adults and young children!!!

This is an AWESOME dollhouse! Mar 28, 2006
By Diana M. Clancy I bought the Savannah dollhouse for my five-year-old granddaughter who lives in another state. She just loves it, and plays with it a lot. The only complaint she had was that it was hard for her to see the top story--it's taller than she is! (Of, course, this will change!).
The house is sturdy and well-built. The furniture is wood, hence durable. My son's comment on the phone was "Oh, Mom, Wow! Wow! Wow!" Hey, anytime you can impress an engineer that much, it's got to be good!

Not impressed, poor quality. Nov 06, 2007
By Disappointed Mom Looks good and is a nice design, but materials are questionable, screws too small to really hold it together - very disappointed in the quality from day one. Tired of fixing panels that pop out and the swing that really doesn't work if you put any weight on it.
On the plus side the furniture that came with it was pretty good and much better quality than the house! Wouldn't buy again for $[...] nevertheless $[...]. We had it a year and already threw it out. Junk.
