5mega suduko techno source  Aug 29, 2008 By J. Taylor "teacher/tutor"
Have owned this item for over 2 years. It has had no wierd functioning problems; when the buttons don't seem to do the pause or input , it is time to change the batteries! mine has worked very well and i have tried them all! i even refuse to use the other 3 kinds that i own. this one is perfect. i can use it at night, i can turn off the sound, and it has the biggest screen that i have seen which is nice when one is older. One review said that they did not like the fact that it was awkward trying to input all number options before one knew what the number was and altho i agree, that is just how it is with the electronic games, one gets used to it! i would much rather use this and not the books with the pencil and the light. this comes with its own light and stylus and it is easy to just grab it at night and play it till your eyes get bleary and then go to sleep.. mine worked fine after a couple years but the screen got a little scratched from abuse and i misplaced it... i can't get to sleep without this toy.! I had to but another one! Definately the best one that i have tried on the market.

5Best Sudoku Handheld By a Mile  Apr 20, 2010 By Library Picks Reviews "Library Picks Staff"
We've reviewed and tried over a dozen handhelds for the sudoku mall toy store. If you're looking for a handheld with all the features at a can't be beat price-- this is the one!

There are both solve and try settings, beginner and advanced, and even "tiny number" placeholders to input candidates. It is easy to select between levels, and wrong tries flash as a warning to help train beginners, and practice your pattern recognition guessing skills. There are hundreds of thousands of puzzles, including very challenging advanced levels that require X wing, chains, fish subsets and other very skilled techniques, however, the beginner level even has "kids" puzzles that can all be solved with simple scanning, and make great speed exercises for advanced players.

The one drawback is the tough to see screen contrast-- set it at "1" (press pause and use the touch screen stylus to select 1), and don't sit in a lot of glare, and it is workable. ALL handhelds have this drawback. It is backlighted, which helps a lot if you're not in sun. For bright sun, copy the puzzle onto paper and use the device in sections as a tutor as you solve! There are great blank grids free at the sudoku dot com Australia site (we have no affiliation). These little handhelds are available between 5 and 12 bucks, and Amazon's Prime works great with reasonable shipping that beats most of the third party prices when you add shipping. Includes touch screen, extra stylus and even batteries! Techno Source is a quality outfit that stands behind their products. You can get high end handhelds for over 200 bucks, and believe it or not, they are not as good as this little monster, regardless of price! Makes a GREAT gift for the sudoku addicts in your life.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the unit is squirrley when you open it, and doesn't seem to work, 99.99% of the time the supplied batteries were just old after being shipped and stored from Hong Kong. Before you go through all the hassles of trying to return it, or assume it's defective, just add fresh batteries. Same thing if it goes rogue after a year or so. TS will even send you free batteries if you open it with this problem, but make sure you check before assuming you got a dud, or trying to return it.

5Awesome--had one for over 2 years  Aug 23, 2008 By A. Haab
I have had this product for well over 2 years. I have dropped it, gone through multiple batteries, and I love it. The backlighting makes it the easiest to use of all the electronic sudoku games I have tried, and haveing 2 modes (one that shows you a wrong answer) is great. I play this before bed or in the dark when I am outside on my balcony at night...absolutely love it. My dad gave it to me for Christmas that year...and this year he is getting one for his birthday! lol

4Soduku Fun  Feb 08, 2008 By Linda Mayer "Linda"
This may be a toy but, at age 62, it helps keeps my mind honed. It is intuitively easy to use and comes with an extra pointer for when the original one is temporarily misplaced. It has eight optional levels of play. The only negative comment is that the screen can be difficult to read and is best used where the light level and orientation can be adjusted.

4Overall Happy with this Game  Jan 06, 2008 By LA
I purchased this game for a relative for Christmas. She seems pleased with the game overall. The only thing, so far, she has found that she doesn't care for is the way you put the multiple numbers in one square when you are still unsure of which one is correct. It will accept the multiple choices however after they are entered the square just continually blinks the numbers you have put in one number at a time. instead of just showing them in small print all together. This is very distracting and not very helpful. All other features are pretty nice. It is well lit and easy to read. Comes with an extra stylus. Overall nice product for a fair price.
