3Suprisingly fun.  Nov 30, 2011 By Fletch Hasues
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my nephew, and I had to wonder if the parents may have taken offense suggesting that their kid would grow up to be a garbage man (which wasn't the case! not that there is anything wrong with the profession!), the child did enjoy the truck. He enjoyed the figurine and the difference of the toy it being something that didn't come with "laser blasters", "rocket packs", etc. He simply enjoyed playing with the set. While I suppose a police or fire fighter may have had more zeal, one only needs to live in New York City to see how important garbage collection is :).

My 4 year old son is reviewing recycling in preschool and when I saw this at a children's museum I thought it would be a great educational opportunity to help reinforce his learning. I was pleased with the product. The garbage truck is made of nice durable wood and the figure is fully poseable with realistic clothes. It is the type of toy that encourages imagination as opposed to a toy that provides entertainment purposes. There is a little piece of wood that is supposed to resemble garbage (to dump into the bin) and that could cause a choking risk. However the recomended age is 36months so by that time children are not as apt to put objects in their mouth.

2Not as much fun as I had hoped  Jan 03, 2008 By Linda
I know my 21/2 year old may be a little young for this one, so I'm hoping he plays with it more when he's a little older, but this just isn't as much fun for him as I had hoped. There's a little tiny piece of chokable wooden garbage that can be "emptied" out of the small wooden garbage can into the back of the truck. Luckily, my son is past the age of putting toys in his mouth, but I've been watching him like a hawk around this toy just in case. There are probably other wooden garbage truck toys, in retrospect, that would've been a better choice for him. Also, this toy was made in China, so keep that in mind. All in all, not bad, but not great either.
