4H.P. Lovecraft brought to life  Oct 18, 2007 By Malchick
Got this plush for my girlfriend for last Christmas. She screamed when she first saw it, but loves it and has it hanging from her ceiling.

5"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across..."  Nov 26, 2011 By Henry Karin
Toy Vault's GUG stands at a foot tall and includes a tag with the original description as provided by H.P. Lovecraft in his novella The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath (1926). The mouth contains a velcro fastener without which the mouth hangs open and unbalances the creature while standing, but the beastie requires assistance to remain upright. Overall, the GUG is an accurate depiction of Lovecraft's monster and a great addition to any collection.

5Hug that Gug  Nov 23, 2011 By Zack Davisson "japanreviewed"
Here is what Lovecraft has to say about gugs in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath:

"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."

Clearly, this is a pretty good representation of Lovecraft's Dreamland beasties. I love the series of Lovecraft plush figures, and am sorry that the line folded. This gug was the last one that I picked up, and it sits proudly with the rest of my collection. It is pretty tall, and towers over the Cthulhu Plush Toy. The mouth opens up wide and has Velcro so you can keep it in the open or closed position.

Awesome toy! I wish they made more of them!
