2What Is the Point? - a review of Chalk and Roll  Dec 28, 2008 By Pam Tee "Busy Mom"
My neighbor's son got "Chalk and Roll" for Christmas. His mom brought it out to the circle where kids enthusiastically gathered around to see what it was all about. It took about 15 minutes to put together. The parts that were supposed to slide together were stubborn, but the biggest problem was the ubiquitous wire straps that held everything in place. At least a dozen.

The worst part of the whole experience was the let-down the kids experienced. There were children from 3 to 8 in the group, and only the 3 year thought it was at all interesting. Essentially all the toy does is draw three lines spaced equally apart. After the initial experience of successfully drawing lines, they took the chalk out and began drawing.

Cons :::

* The toy isn't very sturdy. The 3 yo I mentioned above could easily snap it.

* The handle wasn't tall enough for older children.

* Drawing 3 lines isn't all that interesting.

* Using the toy isn't as educational as actually having the kids sit down and draw as it doesn't strengthen hand-eye coordination nor other fine motor skills.

3It's what he wanted  Jul 28, 2011 By H. Wenzel
My four year old wanted this, and we've had it for 7 months now. He plays with it whenever the chalk is the toy of choice on the driveway. I think it's a little flimsy, but he gets the entertainment he wanted out of it, so all in all, money well spent and I'd buy it again.
