Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Master 12-inch Action Figure

The Master, Tonight I shall walk the Earth, and the stars themselves will hide! As the ancient leader of the vampire Order of Aurelius, The Master was Buffy Summer's first Uber-nemesis, or Big Bad, in Sunnydale. The powerful vampire came to Sunnydale in 1937 in hopes of opening the Hellmouth in order to release The Old Ones, the demons that walked the Earth before mankind, from their dimension so they could walk the Earth again. The Master's plan was thwarted by a great earthquake that swallowed most of the town and trapped the mavpire underground in a sunken church. For sixty years, he languished until he was able to assemble enough followers to help him escape the year buffy came to town. It was Giles that discovered the prophecy in the Pergamum Codex that predicted the Slayer's death at the hands of The Master, which came to fruition when Buffy descended into his lair. The Master attacked and fed from The Slayer, which restored his power and allowed him to escape. Weakened by the attack, Buffy drowned and was only revived when Xander found her and performed CPR. The resurrected Slayer was then able to stop The Master from opening the hellmouth and unceremoniously "dusted" him on a piece of furniture in the school library. Despite The Master's death, his specter continued to haunt Buffy both literally and figuratively for years. Emotionally, her death by his fangs troubled her for some time. The Master also reappeared in the alternate universe episode, "The Wish," which explored a Sunnydale where he ruled supreme and again in the guise of The First in the last season of the series.
