Pretty Cool Dec 30, 2005 I love this doll! The wings are enormous, and she's much prettier then the old Elina. The wings are made of fabric, and let me warn you not to leave her as a mermaid to long or when you make her a fairy again her wings will look a bit crumply. Also, when in mermaid stage, her body does not bend. Don't force her to bend or she could brake. She's still fun even if she doesn't bend when a mermaid. And I advise that if you don't have room to store about 1 foot of space for this doll not to get it.

This toy is so cool! Aug 08, 2006
By Barbie Fan Elina is the best fairy/Mermaid ever!! I love to play with her, and after I watched movie, I played with her more! After like, 2-3 months of owning her, i finally found out how to solve the crumpled wings problem! First, stretch the wings a little with your hands, then, put her in the bath tub. The thing is to wet her wings, then dry her off somewhere she's gna dangle in mid-air, which means her wings dosen't touch the ground or any thing. Well, I love Elina!! She's VeRy pretty in person! Although she does have alot more make-up then in the movie, and she has 'real' eyelashes!! Her hair has glitter strips with it, and she dosen't wear shoes, but she does has pretty patterns aroun her legs!! Oh, and another thing: She BIG! The wings look big when they are out, and when she's a mermaid, she's VERY tall with her mermaid tail. Well, Hope this Helps!

Great toy for a young girl! Mar 17, 2006
By Proud Mom I purchased this toy for my 5-year-old daughter. The wings were much larger than I anticipated, and my daughter mentioned it right away, but she doesn't seem to mind at all. I told her that all people come in different shapes and sizes, and that Elina just has large wings--that makes her special! She never mentioned it again, and my daughter has played with this toy nonstop for several days now. The wings fold down into a tail (if it gently "clicks," it's locked into place properly), and then the mermaid tail piece slips on over the wings. Pulling the elastic skirt down covers up the gap between Elina's hips and the mermaid piece so that it looks more seamless. When the mermaid tail is removed, a button on Elina's necklace makes the wings spring open again. My daughter has had great fun "surprising" me with this conversion over and over again, giggling as she makes the wings suddenly spring up. Overall, I think it's a fun and durable toy--my daughter has not seen the movie and still loves this doll.

She is such a beautiful mermaid/fairy!! Mar 28, 2006 I love Elina!!!She is soo beautiful!!I eally love her beautiful sparkly hair!!!I love it when her wings pop up.I only had her for one day so Im nt sure about her durability....I have only one concern.....it says there on the instruction sheet that her wings flap when you press her necklace.....but when I pressed it, my Barbie's wings showed no motion at all!.....well never maid the wings still flap when I move her around.I havent seen the movie yet but all the comercials kinda told me it;s gonna be super great!I love her clothes!!her dress is like a jelly fish, but her blouse is paited on. you can't change her clothes and everything, but I don't really care. Here are the explanations for my stars
Fun:Definatly!!!I love to change her from fairy to mermaid, and so on, and I like flaping her wings!!
Educational:Not really.....unless you're learning about fairies and mermaids!!
Durablility:It ok...I only had it for one day, but the wings DO crumple up if you keep the mermaid position too long.
Overall: I love this toy, and I love mermaids and fairies!I sure this would be a perfect toy for barbie fans and fairy/mermaid lovers. Hope this Helpes!!

Wonderful doll! Jul 16, 2006

I bought this doll for my four year old a couple of months ago and she loves it. I love this doll too, although not as much as my daughter does, lol. It does get a little taxing when you are being asked to turn the doll from a mermaid back to a fairy every few minutes; not that I mind, it is quick and easy, just don't leave Elina's tail in the mermaid position too long or it will wrinkle. My daughter has had no problems with anything breaking or falling off. This is a beautiful doll well worth the price-I highly reccomend it!
To the 13 year old girl-of course it's OK to play with barbies at your age. I've been playing with barbies since I was a kid and now have my own barbie house and barbie car. (Please understand as a kid I had barbie knockoffs, my parents would not allow me to have actual barbies). But please understand that I now have 2 children and still play with my own barbies that I bought for myself once I left my parents home. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks (after all they don't have to play with your dolls, lol) just keep doing what you enjoy and good luck! P.S. Your kids will one day thank you - Mine do.
