5Top toy for Grand-kids this year!  Dec 28, 2005 By Mom of 3 girls
Every year parents and grandparents search for the ultimate toy - the one that the kids love and spend hours playing with while others are piled up under the tree still in their boxes....well, this is that toy! First of all, it was easy to assemble while a two and 3 1/2 year old waited impatiently. They were both mesmerized and quickly began piecing the tracks together to help. It was quickly assembled into the figure eight shown on the box, no instructions needed. The two little ones spent hours playing....no derailments either. These cars stay on their track even when the pieces aren't perfectly aligned. This is an equal opportunity toy and I loved seeing my 3 1/2 year old daughter play with something that wasn't doll related for a change. She and her two year old boy cousin each had a separate set, which some of the bigger "boys" turned into one bigger track, but each had their own set of two cars - so fighting was minimal. If purchasing for multiple children to share I would recommend adding additional engine cars and passenger cars to eliminate competition for control. There is enough room to have multiple cars at different intervals on the track simultaneously.

5Great starter set!  Apr 21, 2006 By c2
If you're not sure if your little one will really be "into" these train sets, this one is a great one to try out. It's more fun when you get all the extra buildings, but if it's an iffy situation, then I highly recommend this set. We bought this set for our little one because he just wasn't too sure about these trains. However, after he received it, he found out that he liked them and well, now we have a bunch of them! The $40 is not much to invest n a toy that they're not going to play with either! I just wish this set had more things with it besides just the track and the train. However, you can get a little better deal if you buy the track separately from Maxim, who makes Brio trains now, and the train separately as well. This train will chew up the batteries pretty quickly unless you use Duracell. Energizer only makes it two days in this train but Duracell makes it two-and-a-half weeks. Other than that, highly recommend this toy!

4My toddler loves his Brio train  Nov 09, 2007 By K. Murphy
I bought this train set for my 22 month-old son and he loves it. While he needs some help setting up the tracks, it's a fun activity we can do together. I look forward to adding to it as he gets older. I think I will also purchase a non-battery operated train (the train that was included with this set requires batteries) that he can push along the tracks because he tends to wear out the battery on a daily basis.

5Excellent Train Set  Jan 18, 2007 By NATHAN VANDERZANDEN
My son loves his train set he got for Christmas. It is really nice to have the battery operated engine too because he can push it or just turn it on and watch it while playing with other animal toys that go to watch the train.
