This BETTER than the new Flashback 3 (and 2+) Dec 13, 2011
The new Atari Flashback 3 has 60 games but does NOT have Pitfall, River Raid nor Lunar Lander, 2.0 does!
Although This particular system is now over 5 years old and long gone, I will review it because my review I did some sometime back was in the 2+ series.....
.....I saw this in a store some years back at Christmas time, never seen it in any store since. To be honest....my first thought was...why just 40 games?? Sure it sounds like a lot of games but in this day and age, they could have EASILY put all the Atari 2600 games in this system, or threw in some 5200 or 7800 versions of the games. I thought they did it only so they can make Flashback 3 if it sells well. Guess it didnt.
Most of the games plays feels and sounds like the originals from the original 2600 system. "Adventure" though doe Not have the easter egg of the programmers room, why not?? It was fun to access that.
They could have put in more of the fun and popular games. Over all it's a good system to play to remember the good ole days of Atari. I'm glad I own the system, I just wish it had more games. I mean some of the "40" games were not even games but new creations (homebrews) or games that no one ever really knew....who ever played "Adventure 2"? Many of the arcade classics were left off because Atari doesn't own the rights to ("Pac-man" for one).
Anyhow, it's well worth $40 but thats about all.

great, except... Sep 28, 2010

I had been trying to find the old atari for a long time.
I found one at a yard sale, but they wanted way too much than I could afford.
This one was what I wanted, easy to set up and a lot of the great games, my favorite was river raid
and asteroids. The two I miss are space invaders and pac-man. I guess it was a licence thing or something.
But it was still worth every penny.
Well worth it for us ol' timers, and easy to play for kids too.

Atari after 20 Years? Still running Strong. Aug 16, 2010

Despite only being able to hook up to a CR TV the atari flash back 2 should be treasured for as old as the system it is. Porting all the greats from the Atari 2600's time. Atari Climber Asteroids Centipede and more it has a charm that will never be matched. Before we had game systems like the Wii PS3 and XBox 360 there was tons of other game systems. ColecoVision. Intellivision, The Odyssey and Atari 2600. (As well as many many others.) If you value games from the past alot pick this up. This was the systems of the past. And for a treasure like this to creep into the 21st Century is extremely rare to find. Own it before it fades away into nothing but a memory to capture the greatness of games from the past. On another positive note, You can also unscrew the joystick on the Atari controllers for carrying them around on trips which make them very accessible for travel because the screw inside the controllers are made of solid Metal. So no easy breaking. Overall I give this console a 8.5 for design it resembles the 2600 almost exactly a little smaller yes but otherwise still as satisfying. Pick one up Its worth the money.
Exactly what it is Jan 19, 2013
This product I got for my girlfriend and she loves it! One thing though I had no clue you had to hit reset to play the game again! so if anyone was having trouble with it no worries, just hit reset.
Awesome Gift Idea Apr 23, 2012
I bought this as a side gift for my husband last year and his eyes lit up when he unwrapped it. Obviously the games arent as realistic as some of the more recent games are but these old classice are awesome and never dissapoint.
