Gigan rocks! May 07, 2007
By Phillip Marshall My 6-year-old is a huge kaiju fan and agrees that the Gigan from Godzilla Final Wars is a marked improvement over the original 70's Gigan. Bandai figures are remarkably detailed and seem to be fairly durable. The problem with Gigan is that the pointy tip on his tail sometimes comes loose. Nothing a little glue can't correct but...still.
4 stars for educational value? The movies and toys inspire his creativity and imagination. He knows the word Kaiju and likes to spell out Godzilla, Mothra, Ghidorah, etc. He draws the monsters, writes their names and creates his own "sequels". I think that deserves 4 stars!
If you or your child is a Toho Kaiju fan like my son is, Bandai figurines are the way to go!

Gigan action figure Oct 08, 2007

This is another great Godzilla monster toy. My nephews love the Gigan. The colors are nice and the detail is great. They have many battles with their Gigans ( I had to buy 2 to avoid the fighting ). They are ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. They make the arms and legs do different battle move and pretend fly them. The material is very durable and if wet ( taken in the bathtub) they are still good to go!!

Great guardian to perch atop your PC monitor Jan 04, 2007

This is definitely the COOLEST version of Gigan, what with the metallic armor plates, spikey wings & hooked blade hands. I love this version of Gigan from the Godzilla Final Wars and I HAD to get it immortalized in vinyl forever (well, as long as I'm around).
It's less of a toy and more of a posable vinyl figure. It's hollow molded vinyl, but the vinyl is very thick and it could put up with a bit of bending and abuse a child might dish out to it. But it's really not meant for kids so much as collectors. The paint is vibrant and accurate, hand painted, with excellent detail. The figure's about 7-8" tall & looks great next to my other vinyl Gojira figures (I always like to have him vs. Mecha Godzilla since they're both mechanical-looking). The arms & legs move slightly at the shoulders & hips where the limbs were attached, but the fact that they move a bit is actually more due to a molding issue (it's too difficult to pop out of the mold with the limbs included) than trying to make it posable. They're not really meant to be moved all that much. It otherwise does not have any other movement at all, not even the tail, and the most action this guy sees is keeping guard over my PC from the top of the monitor.
It comes with tag attached, and if you care at all about how much the figure retains its collectible worth, you should leave the tag attached. One without a tag is worth less later on. Since I don't ever really plan on selling any of my toys at any point, I removed the tag. The only negative aspect of this kind of toy is that the soft vinyl is a bit susceptible to heat, which can cause a bit of deformation if you leave it in a really hot room, or on top of a hot computer or something. Or if you store it in a box with anything on top of it, it sometimes ends up bending the legs inward together or bending the arms inward. There's a way to fix it ~ hold a hair dryer or heat gun on it for a few seconds and bend it back into correct shape, then run it under cold water & it's back to normal. Just don't leave it anyplace hot to begin with.
If you can get this guy for $15-$20 then it's a fair price, that's the usual price for this size vinyl figure, plus its been imported from Japan & as far as I know this version of Gigan has never been sold in the US (the older version came in those generic Godzilla boxes but those have been discontinued for several years now).
